he IB Hotel is an urban resort which balances a quietly brutal aesthetic with humor and charm. The 50-room hotel WILL BE ONE OF the most significant of the built works produced IN BERBERA, SOMALIA, an open-air street based development NEAR TO THE CBD. THE HOTEL WILL establish a new local streetscape identity as the setting for a curated open-air retail and hospitalityThe Site layout consists of three main plots almost adjacent to each others and connected with roads. The main challenge was to connects these three lands with a distinguish human experience based on the concept and the hierrarchy of public spaces. 1- The first plot with area of 3475 m2 contains the main part of the shopping center (SOUQ-BAZAAR).2- The second plot with area of 2398 m2 contains the hotel building and its services with an annex for the shopping center3- The third plot with area of 913 m2 contains the hotel pool area and lounges with the accessibility to the fabulous sea.Public spaces mean different things in different countries. It has always been a powerful tool for social inclusion and is often taken for granted in developed countries, where parks and open spaces have made up the fabric of many urban environments for centuries.Public space in itself can become a vital tool in the redevelopment of nations, particularly nations with a history , such as the African country of Somalia. "We are confident that the proliferation of public space in this country is a major step towards its peace-building efforts, and a means to heal the scars of its turbulent past" .
