The project was designed as an extension for the city of Alexandria; winning first prize in a national competition held in 2007. The master plan includes a variety of mixed uses such as residential, commercial, retail, and office spaces. The urban planning of the project is designed to utilize the site in accommodating the maximum number of residential units whilst including open urban spaces and public services. The design also includes a harbor offering a variety of services for the local inhabitants and visitors.Road Networks were carefully analyzed to maintain the existing highway networks whilst altering the secondary road networks to allow for more direct and traffic- free routes.
