Omran wins First Prize in Masjid Al Ummah Competition
Mecca's design international design competition requested an exclusive design for the second largest mosque in the vital city. Omran architect's unique competition entry won first prize and the project is scheduled to be finished in 2017. The design approach considered multi-aspects integrating spiritual factors, environmental considerations as well as construction feasibility. The design is going to be the first LEED accredited mosque in Mecca. The interior spaces as well as the exterior spaces have a unique imprint that combines between minimalistic and Islamic inspirations arriving at a innovative Neo-Islamic character.
